Chris ott
Christopher Ott is an English instructor at Beijing Normal University (BNU), where he teaches critical reading and writing, and Second Language Acquisition, and provides teacher trainings throughout China. Prior to teaching at BNU, Christopher was the English Language Fellow (U.S. State Department) at Xi’an International University where he taught American Culture, IELTS speaking prep, and began providing teacher trainings in China. Christopher received his Master’s of Arts in TESOL from the City University of New York, and holds a Masters in Library and Information Science from Pratt Institute. Christopher has taught EFL/ESL in a variety of settings in China, Russia, and the U.S. for the past 8 years. His research interests include academic and creative writing in the EFL classroom, and progressive education practices in traditional environments.
STEVEN M. TAILLARD
Steven M. Taillard is a current English Language Fellow teaching at Northeast Normal University. He obtained his MSed Curriculum & Instruction: TESOL from the University of the Southwest, Hobbs, New Mexico and his BA in Social Studies and Secondary Education from Madonna University, Livonia, Michigan. He has taught Academic Writing, Reading, Grammar, Oral Communications, Media Literacy, Western Culture, and Western Etiquette. Altogether, he has six years’ experience teaching ESL plus another seven years’ experience teaching other various subjects.
Currently as an English Language Fellow, Steven M. Taillard is teaching a variety of English classes to undergraduate students at Northeast Normal University. He is also conducting Professional Development workshops in the latest teaching methods and strategies for the English teachers as well. Moreover, as part of his Fellowship, he is mentoring local teachers, speaking at conferences in China and throughout Asia, judging speech and teaching competitions, and providing workshops and camps for middle school, high school, and college students. Overall, Mr. Taillard is excited to be working as a Fellow in China helping both students and teachers to become more fluent in English.
